With the aim to improve quality of life for people worldwide, the demand for crude oil to provide roads, houses, and our everyday goods is increasing.
Historically used by our indigenous ancestors to caulk canoes, Canada is home to reserves of the highest quality bitumen. We are proud of our resource and want to share it responsibly with the world. Unfortunately, due to safety concerns, it has been challenging to transport Canadian bitumen to global markets.
Melius Energy has a vision for
a sustainable future. Our innovative product, True Crude™, is the solution.
In Canada, Melius Energy uses the proprietary BitCrude™ Process & Diluent Recovery Units (DRU's) to produce True Crude™ . True Crude™ is the only 100% pure crude that is solid and safe to transport.
True Crude has zero additives, is non-flammable, floats in both sea and freshwater, and best of all, is non-toxic to fish.
True Crude™ is a non-dangerous good that can be shipped in containers using existing rail and vessel infrastructure. This means that we can transport Canadian bitumen to local and international markets
safely and efficiently.

HOW IT WORKS
Melius Energy is licensed to use the proprietary Bitcrude™ technology and process to safely produce and transport True Crude™. For more information on Bitcrude™ please visit www.bitcrude.ca.
At the destination, True Crude™ is converted to a liquid and is ready for refinement.
The containers are then transported using existing infrastructure to
local and overseas markets.
Once cool, True Crude™ solidifies and is safe for transport.
True Crude™ is turned into valuable, everyday products.
True Crude™ containers are sent back to Canada to re-use.
How True Crude™ Is Made & Transported
Diluted bitumen (dilbit) is pumped into our diluent recovery unit
In the DRU, diluent is extracted from dilbit.
The final product is True Crude™. While hot, True Crude™ is poured into custom containers.

NON-TOXIC TO MARINE LIFE
True Crude™ has undergone extensive testing conducted by accredited testing facility Triton Environmental Consultants based in British Columbia.
True Crude™ passes the LC-50 test, proving that it is non-toxic to marine life.
A report by a third-party verifies that True Crude™, in our custom containers, floats in both sea and fresh water. In case of an accident, True Crude™ can be easily recovered.
"If a shipping container loaded with True Crude™ bitumen is lost during transportation into a fresh water lake or into the ocean, the container will float".
Because True Crude™ is a non-dangerous good, it can be transported using existing rail, port, and vessel infrastructure.
True Crude™ can be moved on the same trains and boats that ship other consumer products, like clothes and furniture.
By sharing our valuable Canadian resource with the rest of the world, we create job opportunities and prosperity for Canadians.
From port workers in British Columbia to geologists in Alberta, Canadians benefit from the safe export of bitumen to international markets.
With True Crude™ you ship
Traditionally, approximately 65% bitumen from Canada is mixed with 35% diluent to make diluted bitumen or dilbit. Dilbit is then shipped via pipeline to refineries, where diluent is recovered and shipped back to Canada.
True Crude™ is 100% bitumen and contains no additives. This means we only ship the product that refineries use. This saves money and makes it safe to transport Canadian bitumen worldwide.
